Benefits of Pomegranate Fruit
Studies
from Israel have shown that pomegranate juice is capable
of fighting breast cancer cells whilst leaving the healthy
cells alone. It has also been shown to slow the growth
of prostate cancer and prevent lung cancer. Studies have
demonstrated that prescription-strength orlistat helps
people lose 5 or 6 pounds more than placebo.
Studies
also show that the antioxidants in pomegranates can reduce
plaque buildup on artery walls and lessen stress on the
cells lining the blood vessels. The results of a study
involving pomegranate juice and the heart showed that
when treated with pomegranate juice, heart cells produced
50% more nitric oxide, a secretion that helps blood cells
to relax.
Pomegranate juice has excellent antioxidant properties.
It has about three times more antioxidants ounce for ounce
than does red wine or green tea . Pomegranate juice is
also under clinical studies for alleged anti-cancer properties
as well. Pomegranate arils (or seeds) juice is the secret
inside this fruit. This juice provides an adult with 16%
of their Daily requirement of Vitamin C per 100 ml serving.
The arils (or seeds), they're kind of like really small
grapes, all packed inside the fruit. Personally, I find
it a bit a pain to dig all edible parts out. Fortunately,
they're in season at my local farmers market and they're
sooooo good! Plus they're one of those things like sunflower
seeds that takes some work to eat.
Further
study shows that Pomegranate juice has been shown to work
well as a blood thinner. Some research has shown it may
be an excellent agent for promoting blood flow to the
heart. Pomegranates, dubbed "the fruit of the month" by
the Centers for Disease Control, are quickly becoming
known as a miracle fruit. It has been said to fight heart
disease, Alzheimer's, and prostate cancer, just to name
a few. Pomegranate juice has a sweet, slightly tangy flavor
and is an excellent source of vitamin C. However, its
real health benefit is in their protective antioxidants.
Oh!
and did i mention? Pomegranates are also rich in Iron,
vitamin A E and C and have three times more antioxidants
than green tea or red wine. I have done a LOT of research
and according to what I have read, pomegranates are a
natural healing fruit. *This
